Cherokee National Forest
Etwoah: Approximately 34 miles of trails. Has dispersed camping for Equestrians but no
facilities.

Cherokee Trails Campground and Stables
Bluff City: We have full hook up sites. Covered stalls. Bathhouses. Cabins and
bunkhouses for rent. Campground joins the Cherokee National Forest, with
miles of forest service roads and trails. Mountain trails to the summit
of Holston Mountain (over 4500 ft above sea level), it may not be the
Rockies, but as close as you can get east of the Mississippi River.
Located next to South Holston Lake, so bring your boat, or rent ours for
some swimming or fishing. GREAT TROUT FISHING in the tail waters of the
South Holston River. Some guided services for trail rides, hunting and
fishing.
This is a FAMILY campground, so bring the horses, dogs, but most of all
"the kids".
Directions to campground. From Bristol take Hwy 421 south for 3 mile.
Turn right onto Hwy 44 south go 2.1 miles to the 4-way stop sign. Turn
right and follow Hwy 44 south for 1.5 miles, turn left onto Morrell Creek
Road, go .7 miles. Make a left onto Morrell Creek Lane and go 1.4 miles
to campground of the left.

Zenith Stables & Campground
There is a fairly new campground apx. 15 miles Northeast of Jamestown called ZENITH STABLES & CAMPGROUND.
They have direct access trails to Big South Fork, with over 200 miles of marked trails. They have cabins,
travel-trailer hookups with water & electric, and primitive camping areas. They also have 50 nice
stalls in 2 barns that are well maintained.
DIRECTIONS: Take hiway 127 to Jamestown, turn on hiway 52East and proceed to Mt. Helen Road. Turn onto Mt.
Helen Road and proceed to Cole Place Road. (There is a sign at the corner of Mt. Helen Rd. & Cole Place
rd.) The campground is apx. 1/2 mile down Cole Place Rd. on the left.

Saddle Valley Campground
Jamestown: Campsites, stables and corrals, located on eight acres, large Pines, Bradford
Pears, lots of grass, and a small pond for your relaxation after a day of
riding in The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, just outside
of Jamestown, TN. Bring your horses and keep them in one of our
covered 10x10 stalls just a few feet from your campsite, or keep them
together in an open paddock the right size for your number of horses.
We have 5 barns, 8 paddocks and a large corral. Easy access to Big South Forks well
maintained designated and mapped horse trails, with easy to follow signs, is

Percy Priest, Cordell Hull, and Dale Hollow
Percy Priest, Cordell Hull, and Dale Hollow lakes are very good trails for day rides
and camping. The Twin Forks Trail at the south end of Priest is about twenty miles
long and offers great views of Stones River and has at least three access
points. This is an Army Corps of Engineers project and is free to the public.
Two of the Rangers, Greg Thomas and Scott Fanning, have taken an interest in the
trails and are willing to help keep them maintained if they are used by horse people.

Twin Forks Horse Trail
Twin Forks Horse Trail at J. Percy Priest Lake: Equestrians and hikers are welcome to
use this 20 mile long trail that runs along the shoreline from Walter Hill Dam to
Nices Mill Recreation Area. The best access to the trail is East Fork Recreation Area.
The 8 mile portion of the trail between Nices Mill and East Fork is in better
condition than other portions of the trail, which may be overgrown in some places,
however efforts are being made to reclaim the trail along the entire route. Directions
to East Fork: from downtown Nashville take I-24 east 19 miles to exit 70, left on
Nissan Dr. 3 miles rt on 41 Murfreesboro Rd (toward Murfreesboro) left on Florence Rd.
rt on Sulphur Springs Rd, go past Nices Mill, left on W. Buckeye Bottom Rd. look for,
and follow signs to East Fork .

Cordell Hull Lake Horseback Riding Trails
There are two trails at Cordell Hull, the Lowland Trail, approximately 10
miles long,is an ideal place for biginning riders to master the equestrain
art, or for the experienced rider to enjoy a leisurely ridethrough the open
flat lakeshore environment.
The second trail is the Wilderness Trail, approximately 12 miles long. This
trail is much more challenging for both the rider and horse.The Wilderness
Trail leaves the flat country of the lakeshore and heads for the hills.Along
this trail you you will travel through steep terrrain past a timberland full
of a variety of vegetation and wildlife. Reststops along the trail offer a
scenic, panoramic view of Curdell Hull Lake from atop the hills.
Directions and info; Take I-40 to the Carthage exit, then Highway 53 to
Granville. The trail entrance is beside the road just past Granville. There
is a parking area here, or you can turn left off 53, go about 5 miles to to
the entrance for both trails and a primative camping. For more info

Red Oak Ridge Riding trail
Celina: Red Oak Ridge hiking and horse riding trail at Dale Hollow Lake. Along the
trail, there are places to swim, water your horse, and camp. Hitching
post, a shelter and pit toilets are provided. Please help protect the natural and
cultural resources on the trail. Deposit litter in the designated
containers. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the trail.
Take Hwy 53 out of Celina past the Dale Hollow Dam and look for the sign to Holly
Creek Dock, turn right, and then look for the Red Oak Ridge Trail signs.

Warner Parks Horse Trails
There are about ten miles of easy relaxing trails at Warner Park in Nashville.
There are many loops and picnic shelters, however no camping. These are well maintained trails in a very nice park. Trailriders should enter and
exit the bridle path system from the Equestrian Center at 2500 Old Hickory Blvd.

Coker Creek: Located with the Cherokee National forest all around us. We have appox. 200
miles of trails. I have horse rentals by the hour, 1/2 day &
all day rates, or bring your own horse. We take people out on overnight & weekend
campouts.

Martin's Stables
Cosby: We are right across the street from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with miles
of trails that permit horseback riding. In fact, according to park officials,
approximately 80 percent of trails in this half of the park permit horseback riding.
If it was your desire, you could mount your horse at our stables and dismount in the
Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina.
You can now bring your horse for riding in the park during the day, and take in shows or
any other entertainment the area has to offer at night knowing your horse is being
professionally cared for.
One half hour drive to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville
Directions:
Take I-40 to the Wilton Springs Exit (440) and follow the signs to Gatlinburg. When on
US 321 keep going straight, rather than take the right-hand turn at the fireworks store
just past the Cosby Smoky Mountain Information Center. The entrance to the Cosby
Campground will be one mile ahead. Martin's Stables is on the left, one-half mile past
the Cosby Campground entrance.

Many Cedars Campground and Trail Rides
There are about 60 miles of wooded trails that wind through
approximately 3,200 acres. The trails lead over the hills and through
the hollows, across streams and the Buffalo River. The trails are very
well marked and a map is available at the main building.
They do not host a regular week long ride, but do welcome groups and can
customize a package to meet your needs. Please call for extended stay
and group rates. Once a month they have a one day guided ride with a
meal included. Other special events will be offered occasionally
throughout the season.
Located on the Buffalo River about 15 miles Northeast of the Buffalo

Jamestown: Timber Ridge Horse Campground is located 7 miles from Jamestown, TN. From Jamestown
take Rt. 154 north for 5 miles and turn right on Darrow Ridge Road.
The Campground is 2 1/2 miles on the right. The Campground features campsites with
electricity, water and picnic tables, a new 40 stall barn, a clean, heated bath house,
central sewage dump and a few sleeper cabins with electricity and water.

Big Creek Horse Camp
Newport: Big Creek Horse Camp is a privately operated horse campground just outside the Big Creek entrance to the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Mt Sterling, NC. We operate 2 small horse camps, one has a dozen
tie stalls, the other has high lines. Both sites have turn out for your horses, pit toilets, and a covered
picnic shed. A nearby country store (in walking or riding distance) offers hot meals, hot showers, and
laundry. From the camp you may easily ride into both the Big Creek/Mt Sterling area of the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park or into the 12 Mile Strip area of the Pisgah National Forest.
The camp is rented to a single group at a time, regardless of group size.
Rates are $10 per night for the first person and $5 per night for each additional person.
For folks with big rigs than cannot negotiate the road to the Big Creek day use trailer parking area in the
national park may park at our horse camp for $5 rig per day.
Big Creek Horse Camp is just 2 miles off I-40 exit 451 in Tennessee. The closest large town is Newport, TN.
We live in NC but you have to go into TN to get to our place and, even though we live in NC, our mail and
phone service comes from Newport, TN, a town about 20 miles away.

Starr Mountain Lost Corral Horse Camp
Benton: A new horse camp is open in the Ocoee-Hiwassee Ranger District of the Cherokee National Forest. Lost Corral
Horse Camp is located in Polk County off Forest Service Road 27 near the Hiwassee Ocoee Scenic River State
Parks Office.
Lost Corral features 20 developed campsites, each with its own picnic table, fire ring, lantern post and horse
hitching area. Each site will accommodate up to five people and two vehicles. Portable water and vault
toilet facilities are located in the campground. The fee for camping is $15 per site per day.
Ocoee-Hiwassee District Ranger, Monte Williams said, "This is a nice facility and we are pleased to make it
available to equestrian users."
Lost Corral Horse Camp is near the Starr Mountain Horse Tail Complex, Gee Creek Wilderness, Spring Creek
Shooting Range and Hiwassee River. "Lost Corral is in a great location near a variety of outdoor recreation
opportunities," said Williams.
The Starr Mountain Horse Trail Complex consists of over 30 miles of trails ranging from short loop trails to
long overnight rides. The trail complex can be accessed directly from the Lost Corral Horse Camp and
Trailhead via the Coffee Branch Trail No. 105, 7.9 miles to Iron Gap. This trail presents a moderate
challenge due to the grade and rocky condition of the old roadbed. Combined with the Chestnut Mountain Trail
No. 104, 3.8 miles, horseback riders can make a loop back to Lost Corral through Gee Creek Wilderness.

Lost Corral Horse Camp is located off Highway 411, seven miles north of the traffic light in Ocoee Scenic
River State Park sign marking the turn. After turning onto Spring Creek Road, Lost Corral is just past
the State Parks Office and across the road from Gee Creek State Park.

Cosby: We are right across the street from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with miles
of trails that permit horseback riding. In fact, according to park officials,
approximately 80 percent of trails in this half of the park permit horseback riding.
If it was your desire, you could mount your horse at our stables and dismount in the
Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina.
You can now bring your horse for riding in the park during the day, and take in shows or
any other entertainment the area has to offer at night knowing your horse is being
professionally cared for.

Take I-40 to the Wilton Springs Exit (440) and follow the signs to Gatlinburg. When on

We have 3 completely furnished log cabins, two dump stations and covered stalls with water and lights. A
farrier is available. Currently we have over 200 campsites and stalls with more to come this winter.
